Role Play Guide Lines
hHere are some guide lines for the Fallen in regards to what we would like to see in the guild, as well as some common RP no-nos.
Guild Chat
This is an IC chat where you can RP and emote with out having to meet up with other guild members for RP. This makes it so no one has to worry about coming up with an excuse to be where people are RPing.
Things we want to see:
Greetings: When you log on, even if there is only one or two other people on please say some form of greeting if you can. Yawn and say good morning (evening or afternoon depends on the time) or something.
RP on the go: As you are playing, take some time to spark some RP in g chat, if something happens, or you find something, talk about it. If you read in the journal that something has happened, ask questions about it.
Ask for help: if you want to do a BG, LFR, LFG, dailies and want company bring it IC and ask over the charm. Say you are headed to the fronts and if anyone wants to join you in training, or that you are going to delve somewhere and if anyone can lend you their skill.
Farewells: When you are getting ready to log if you have the time say a good bye. Tell people you have other business to tend to, that you have work to do, or that you need to find your bed for some rest.
These are all things that can be done in G chat that will help keep the RP alive and kicking in the guild.
Role Play Plots
The guild's main focus in on RP, and most of our RP centers around guild wide RP plots we have come up with but also highly encourages members to bring their own personal RP and plots into the guild. It is not the responsibility of ONLY the guild leader, and officers to come up with RP for everyone and we would like to see everyone making an effort to promote and push various RPs with in the guild. So please do not be shy when it comes to RP ideas you have for either the guild as a whole, or your character personally. I do approve of personal plots that DO NOT involve the guild, however things of this nature like if you want to do a plot with a few non guildies friends where your toon is kidnapped, that is fine, and if you don't want the Fallen involved that is fine as well but keep in mind it does look very poor on the guild over all if bad things are happening to our members and the guild doesn't know or take notice (in other words if you don't tell me, or other officers what's going on it ends up making the Fallen's leaders look incompetent ICly.) So even if you plan on doing a personal plot like that you do not HAVE to tell us, but it is encouraged that you do so OOC we can at least know what's going on and at least make several comments and use it to spark other RPs.
An example, if you are kidnapped but don't want the Fallen playing a part in it, let an officer know, that officer can then take notice the character is missing, and maybe do an RP search (which will yield nothing, allow you to keep the plot personal and to yourself, but also doesn't make the Fallen look uncaring or incompetent). Everyone is encouraged to start your own RP plots with in the guild either as a guild wide RP, or only including several guildies. If you have questions about an RP you want to do please feel free to whisper any officer and explain the RP and see what they think. If you ever start an RP, and an officer takes note of something that isn't right, you will be whispered and the matter can be discussed, no one will be punished for starting RP (even if it turns out to be a less then fitting RP, we will always do our best to politely explain issues we have with RP and help work on you to tailor the RP to make it fitting, while staying with in the scope of what you are trying to accomplish).
RP Lotto
In an effort to bring more RP to the guild every week we will be hosting an RP lotto (this is an OOC lotto) During which every one who wishes to participate can let me know and your name will go on a list. Every week one person on the list will be randomly selected and their job for the week will be to come up with an RP plot to do with the Fallen. This can be a social casual RP, a more in depth plot, or can be a plot revolving around a plot already running in the Fallen . At the end of the week the person who did the RP will be rewarded with a prize of sorts for having created, and completed an RP for the guild. This can either be gold, a pet, BOE items, etc. Please check the guild forums under our contest section to see more about the RP lotto.
RP No-Nos
Here are a few things I have seen that I consider RP no nos.
OOC fun, I encourage people to have fun and if you aren't in the mood to RP you wont be forced to RP if you would rather take some time and be goofy but you will be asked to be respectful of other people who are RPing. Just because your OOC tag is on, does not mean everyone else is. If people are RPing (in guild or not) be respectful. Do not jump/run/dance around them. Do not spam them with silly emotes like /bite, /lick, /love, /growl. Avoid blasting off AOE spells, spamming heal spells on people, or using novelty toys. You are free to do all these things just please be courteous of those who are around you. Doing these things in an RP hot spot (Like the recluse) can reflect poorly on the guild and give people an impression we are not a serious RP guild, or have yourself labeled a 'troll'.
Violent plots involving other actual players, here is something I am very iffy about. I love and encourage all RP but please take long term things into consideration when doing plots like this. If for fun and excitement you have a person almost kill, rape, kidnap, or abuse your character consider how that will effect the future. It will make that person black listed to the Fallen, ICly Ras would NEVER allow any of her Kin to be associated with someone who has done something like that. There are ways to work it in so they can but there are hard limits with VERY touchy topics like rape. If someone rapes someone, or tries to there is NO way Ras would ever allow her people to associate with them, she may even seek to have the person arrested for it, or executed. I have seen several cases where people have had their toons raped, and then a week later they are best friends with the person who did it. That makes no sense what so ever. So again please consider these factors when doing plots of that nature. If Ras, or the rest of the Kin do not know, no harm no foul, but keep in mind if they EVER find out action will be taken.
Making your character related to important lore figures, having powers outside of the scope of their class/race. I love when people get creative and where there is a proper way to have your character related to lore figures it is something that I would consider doing a GREAT deal of research about it. People who want to RP as the love child of the king of storm wind and some tavern girl, saying you were in a relationship with a major lore figure, saying you own land/buildings. These are all things that can really effect and damage RP to many people want to be related to lore characters so they can be powerful ICly. (case in point watching someone RPing at the recluse who attacked someone and when they fought back she informed him her parents were the rulers of Darnassus and if he did anything to her they would kill him). Having powers unrelated is also frowned upon, there are ways to work things in but its something you really need to look into. Powers include things like being able to read minds, move things with your mind, having wings and able to fly, being some form of creature that isn't in game (such as a vampire).
Titles/nobilities. Keep in mind if you RP as some very important figure how would you fit into the Fallen? if you are a high up commander that loyally serves Stormwind's Army...why would you also be in a Kinship that is independent of the alliance? If you want to say you are the head of a noble family, again why then would you be in the Kinship? Wouldn't you be with your own family? There are ways to work it but take time to consider how your character would fit in.
RPing as a child. Yes it can be a fun concept but keep in mind its very hard to look at a character in WoW and have them say "I am 12" just by looking at the graphics its hard to take seriously. Also as a 12 year old think of the things you wouldn't be able to do, 'children' would more or less be confined to safe areas and wouldn't be allowed to do anything. And if the child is rebellious and wants to keep getting into trouble, Ras would have no choice but to send them to the orphanage where the matron could properly watch them.
Huge pet peeve: GNOMES ARE GNOMES THEY ARE NOT HUMAN CHILDREN, please, PLEASE do not roll a gnome and try and tell people you're a human child.
In the game only humans can be worgen, please do not have any other race and say you are a worgen, or be a worgen and say you are some other race.
This post/thread is under constant construction as the world turns. Please be patient.
